      1)  2nd place in the first solo contest in which I competed – Novice March at the Milpark Gathering in 1997, aged 11.

      2)  A number of 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings in age group contests, 1999 – 1985.

      3)  1st place in Silver Piobaireachd on my “comeback” to solos, 2009.

      4)  1st place overall in Open Piping at the 2012 Cornwall Solos, when my son Damian was 1st overall in the Junior contest.

 

Dates and Descriptions of Significant Band Competition Achievements:

1)  Leading African Skye to their first ever overall win in Grade 2 at the 2009 South Coast Gathering.

2)  Leading African Skye to their second win overall in Grade 2, 2009 St Benedict’s Gathering.

3)  Leading African Skye, with co-Pipe Major Damian Pitman, to 1st place overall in Grade 3 at the 2017 Pretoria Gathering – part of the “A” band comeback year.

4)  Winning Grade 2 Champion of Champions, 2014 Benoni Gathering.

5)  Leading Delville Pipe Band to 3rd place at NSG 1989, the band’s first ever contest in Grade 1, with international judges.

6)  Winning Grade 2 with Boksburg Callies at the 1982 East Rand Gathering, my first ever senior band contest.

1)   1st ever parade – St Patricks Day Ceilidh with CBC Boksburg, 1976.

2)   1st Band Contest: East Rand Gathering in 1977, with CBC Boksburg.

3)   1st Solo Contest: Milpark Gathering 1977.

4)   1st Contest as Pipe Major of a senior band (Delville Pipe Band), South Coast 1987.

5)   South Coast 2009, St Benedict’s 2009, Benoni 2014, Pretoria 2017.
